Criminal and Vehicle & Traffic Law

Whether a speeding ticket or a DWI charge is involved, many people or their families or friends occasionally need an attorney to assist them with the defense and resolution of traffic and criminal matters. Regardless of the offense charged, there can be no question that retaining experience counsel results in better outcomes.

The attorneys of Flink Maswick Law PLLC have handled thousands of traffic tickets, DWI cases and other criminal matters throughout New York State, but especially in the Capital District and Adirondacks, and we have established a reputation for firm, fair dealings with the prosecutors and courts. In many cases, we have developed working relationships with the various levels of the criminal justice system – law enforcement, district attorneys and the judiciary – which we bring to bear for the benefit of our clients. While everyone knows we will accord them complete respect and consideration, we choose to deal from a position of strength even when we know our client must plead to some charge. In addition to obtaining favorable outcomes, our clients always know they have a forceful advocate in their corner, which provides them with compassion and understanding as well as quality representation through what can be a very difficult time.

We also have experience with dealing with the new regulations which apply to those convicted of DWI or DWAI multiple times, have handled hardship applications to the New York State DMV Driver Improvement Bureau for those with no license and dealt with motions to vacate guilty pleas to traffic tickets for those with suspensions based on the number of DMV points accumulated.

The attorneys of Flink Maswick also know that there can be unanticipated consequences for certain individuals associated with certain crimes.  We have experience advocating for our clients to the State Educational Department for professionals charged/convicted of crimes.

When handling traffic citations and DWI charges, we are usually able to resolve the matter expeditiously on terms acceptable to our clients. When necessary, our firm knows what should be pursued to enhance the client’s position. The courts and prosecutors recognize that we will try the case if we do not consider the plea offer appropriate.

As regards other criminal matters, the attorneys of Flink Maswick are usually able to resolve the matter to our client’s satisfaction without trial. We use imagination, fact development and legal proceedings and/or research to strengthen our hand in our negotiations with the District Attorney and Court, who know we will be ready for trial if the matter cannot be resolved by plea disposition.  We have handled felony and misdemeanor matters and violations charged for clients charged with assault, battery, endangering the welfare of a child, larceny, menacing, obstruction of breathing, reckless driving, driving while intoxicated, driving while impaired by alcohol and by drugs, disorderly conduct, unlawful possession of marijuana, drug possession charges and many others.
