James “Jamey” Maswick is a founding member of Flink Maswick Law PLLC and advocates for clients on a wide range of matters, ranging from personal to business to litigation defense.

Jamey is experienced in all aspects of litigation, including investigation, pleadings, discovery, depositions, and dispositive motions through negotiations, arbitrations, legal administrative hearings, court proceedings, arguing appeals, and conducting trials. He regularly appears before courts located in the North Country, Adirondacks, and the Capital District. He is experienced in general liability defense, including commercial and civil litigation, as well as premises, product, and automotive liability. He has experience handling a wide range of personal injury claims, including car accidents, slip and falls, bicycle and ski accidents, and elevator/escalator claims. 

He also regularly handles matrimonial cases for clients, including those involving equitable distribution, maintenance, and child support. Jamey also appears on behalf of clients in family court on a regular basis as well. Mr. Maswick has experience handling criminal matters in both local and county courts, with an emphasis on DWI-related defense and other vehicle and traffic matters. 

On the corporate end, Mr. Maswick regularly represents buyers, sellers, and banks in a wide range of real estate transactions, helping large lenders, first time home buyers, and multi-million dollar vacation property owners. He handles estate planning through drafting wills, health care proxies, and powers of attorney and forms business entities for clients. 

A native of the Capital District and an active member of the Adirondack community, Mr. Maswick is a former member of the board and former Vice President of the Tri-Lakes Federal Credit Union, a former member of the board and former Treasurer of the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, and a member of the Business and Networking Group in Lake Placid. He is also a member of the Essex County Bar Association and the Lake Placid Business Association. He is a former Vice President of the Tri-Lakes Young Professionals. He has been named as a Rising Star in New York Super Lawyers Magazine Upstate Edition for the past seven years (2016 to 2022). 

Jamey was selected as “Best of the Adirondacks, Lawyer/Attorney” in 2018 by the readers of the Adirondack Daily Enterprise and Lake Placid News. Jamey has been named “Runner Up” in 2019 and 2020 as well. In 2014-2017, Flink Smith Law LLC, the firm Jamey belonged to during this time, was named “Runner Up” in same contest. 

Mr. Maswick earned his J.D. at Albany Law School, where he was a member of the Albany Law Review and a quarterfinalist in the Domenick L. Gabrielli Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Competition. He earned his B.A. magna cum laude from St. Lawrence University, Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Sigma Alpha, as a double major in government and economics. While earning his undergraduate degree, he attended a semester at American University in Washington, D.C., and a semester at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark.

Jamey is married to Caitlin Aherne, and they have a daughter, Meghan. In his spare time, Jamey enjoys running, road and mountain biking, alpine and cross country skiing, and golf.
