Flink Maswick Law PLLC • April 4, 2022
Molly S. Hann Attorney at Partner at Flink Maswick Law

Flink Maswick Law PLLC is pleased to announce that attorney Molly S. Hann has joined the firm as a partner. Molly has practiced law for over 9 years in the Adirondacks, the last 5 years in Tupper Lake in private practice with a Malone-based firm. Molly also worked as the deputy public defender in Essex County prior to working with a law firm.

In conjunction with Molly joining our firm, Flink Maswick Law has established an office in Tupper Lake so that Molly can continue to work with her clients there, as well as help Flink Maswick Law service the substantial client base of Tupper Lake residents and business folks whom we have been honored to represent over the years. That office address is 56 Lake Street, Tupper Lake, NY 12986.

By way of a brief history, Molly and Jamey Maswick have become close personal friends over the years based on their shared values of commitment and service to their families and friends, clients, and the entire North Country community. Senior Partner Ed Flink has been serving this community for over 25 years, opening a Lake Placid office in 2004 with Favor R. Smith and Charles E. Walsh in the current location of Flink Maswick Law, where Favor first opened his office in 1970. Then and now, the opening of these offices was in response to growing client bases in both towns. Jamey joined Ed’s firm when he was in law school, Jamey wanting to work with Ed and live in Lake Placid. Molly, Ed and Jamey are all St. Lawrence alums who have been pleased to make the Tri-Lakes their home.

Molly grew up in Lake Placid and has lived in Saranac Lake for over 15 years. Molly graduated cum laude from Vermont Law School in 2012, earning the Dean's Scholar and Merit Scholar. During law school, she interned with the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York and the Adirondack Park Agency. She was a research associate in the Vermont Law School Environmental and Natural Resources Law Clinic. Molly was Amy L. Smith’s legal assistant in Lake Placid for two years before commencing her studies at Vermont Law School.

Molly lives in Saranac Lake with her husband, Stephen Hann, a nursing supervisor at Adirondack Health, their two children, and three dogs. Molly enjoys most outdoor pursuits in the Adirondacks including camping, skiing, sailing, mountain biking, paddling, and running. Molly donates her time generously, she currently serves on the board of directors for Play ADK and is the chair of the Membership & Honors committee of the St. Lawrence University Alumni Executive Council.

Molly’s longtime assistant Shannon Bradley has also come aboard to the Flink Maswick Law team and will work out of the Tupper Lake location.

Please join us in welcoming Molly and Shannon to the team! Please reach out to them if you have a matter which requires their attention.

James Maswick, an attorney with Flink Maswick Law PLLC who primarily works in our Lake Placid Office, recently successfully defended a client in a New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Division of Safety and Business Hearings “Refusal Hearing”, when the client was charged with, among other things, Vehicle and Traffic Law 1192(4), operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs. The client allegedly refused to take multiple forms of chemical tests that the police officers allegedly sought to be administered. The successful defense led to the finding of "insufficient evidence" by the Administrative Law Judge in this matter. Maswick's defense for the client involved cross-examining two New York State Troopers in this matter. His client did not testify. If you or someone you know is in this situation or something similar and needs assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Attorney James Maswick led the Flink Maswick Law PLLC team which secured a $100,000 settlement for a plaintiff client in a case involving a motor vehicle accident. This settlement included the insurance policy limits of the offending driver and recovering the maximum amount of coverage from our client's own insurance policy based on what occurred in the accident. This settlement underscores the importance of having appropriate Supplementary Underinsured Motorist coverage, commonly known as SUM coverage. Our client is particularly pleased that they had this coverage in place to protect themselves from dangerous drivers who do not have adequate insurance coverage or who carry insurance coverage which is only at the state minimum amount, and which was wholly inadequate to compensate the client for the injuries suffered. If you know someone who is in a situation where they have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, please do not hesitate to have them reach out to our firm for a free consultation. We represent and help folks who are injured in all sorts of personal injury cases, including motor vehicle accidents, and can review your options with you in any potential case you may have.
